Crypto data security

Your HR data is encrypted, not just hidden

EmplAI applies crypto security measures to every sensitive field — encrypting it before storage, keeping the keys apart from the data, and decrypting only for the role that is allowed to see it.

How one salary field is protectedrunning live
Step 1 of 5
1. The data is encrypted before it is stored

The moment a salary, bank account, Aadhaar or medical field is saved, EmplAI converts it into AES-256 ciphertext. What lands in the database is unreadable text, not the value you typed.

What that adds up to
AES-256
Encryption strength on every sensitive field
The same symmetric cipher standard banks and governments use for classified data.
0
Readable records in a raw database dump
If storage is ever copied, the attacker holds ciphertext with no keys attached to it.
100%
Decrypt events written to the audit log
Who opened which field, from which device, at what time — retained and exportable.

Encryption, key management and access control run automatically on every record — nothing depends on a person remembering to switch it on.

What crypto security is

Protection that travels with the record

Traditional HR software protects the door: a login screen, a permission list, a firewall. Crypto security protects the data itself, so it stays unreadable even if someone gets past every door.

Door-level security only
  • Data sits in plain text inside the database and in backups.
  • Anyone with database or server access can read every salary.
  • An exported file or stolen backup is fully readable.
  • Proving who saw what depends on manual record-keeping.
EmplAI crypto security
  • Sensitive fields are stored as AES-256 ciphertext, never plain text.
  • Keys live in a separate vault, so database access alone reveals nothing.
  • Exports and backups carry the same encryption as live data.
  • Every decrypt is logged automatically against a named user.
Why it matters to your company

What crypto security actually prevents

The business case for encrypting HR data, in plain terms.

A data breach stops being a data leak

Most HR incidents are copied files and exported spreadsheets. When the underlying values are ciphertext and the keys live elsewhere, a copied file has no commercial or personal value to whoever takes it.

Insider risk is contained by maths, not trust

Nobody — not an admin, not a database engineer, not the vendor — can read salary or identity data without a key their role is entitled to use. Trust is enforced cryptographically instead of by policy.

Compliance evidence is already collected

DPDP, ISO-style and customer audits ask the same questions: is personal data encrypted, who can decrypt it, and can you prove it? EmplAI answers all three from its own logs.

Safe cloud and multi-branch operation

Because protection travels with the record, data stays sealed across branches, backups, replicas and off-site copies — not only inside one protected server.

The crypto measures

Five layers of cryptographic protection

Each measure is standard, proven cryptography — applied consistently to every module in EmplAI.

Field-level AES-256 encryption

Salary, bank, identity, tax and health fields are each encrypted on their own, so a report or query can never accidentally expose them together.

Envelope keys with separated duties

Data keys are wrapped by a master key held in a managed vault and rotated on schedule. The person who can reach the data cannot reach the keys.

TLS 1.3 in transit

Every connection from web, Android, iOS and biometric devices is encrypted and certificate-validated, blocking interception on shared networks.

Hashed, irreversible biometrics

Only one-way encrypted templates are stored. A fingerprint or face image cannot be reconstructed from what EmplAI holds.

Encrypted backups and restores

Backups, replicas and point-in-time restores inherit the same ciphertext and key policy, including off-site copies.

Around the encryption

Six controls behind every record

Encryption keeps the data unreadable. These controls decide who may ever turn it back into text.

Encrypted end to end

Every record is protected in transit and at rest, with sensitive fields such as salary, bank and identity details encrypted individually.

Access is granted, never assumed

Nobody inside or outside the organisation can open a record unless a role explicitly permits it — including administrators.

Field-level masking

Two people can open the same profile and see different fields, based on exactly what their role allows.

Everything is logged

Views, downloads, edits and approvals are recorded with who, what and when — ready for audit at any time.

Isolated tenant data

Your organisation's data is logically isolated, backed up on schedule and restorable to a point in time.

Automatic revocation

Access to web and mobile ends on the last working day through the exit workflow — no forgotten accounts.

In practice

What this means day to day

A manager sees attendance for their team only — the next department stays encrypted to them.
Payroll staff decrypt salary data; recruiters never hold a key for that field at all.
Medical and identity documents open only for the roles allowed to review them.
Every export is filtered by the viewer's permissions before a single value is decrypted.
If someone downloads a document, that decrypt is stored against their name permanently.
